Aloe Vera (Aloe vera syn. A. barbadensis) - Break off a leaf and split open
to collect the gel. For burns and eczema, apply liberally twice a day.
Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica syn. Hydrocotyle asiatica) - has been used
for thousands of years in India for treating severe skin problems. Recipe:
Mix 2 tsp powder with a little water to make a paste and apply to patches
of eczema. Alternately, dust the affected areas with gotu kola powder as
often as needed to relieve the itch.
Turmeric, Haldi (Hindi) Jiang Huang (Chinese) (Curcuma longa syn. C. domestica)
- is a very valuable remedy for many skin conditions including psoriasis
and eczema. This herb is a powerful anti-inflammatory. According to research
studies conducted between 1971 and 1991, it is even more powerful than
hydrocortisone. It is also strongly antibacterial and more strongly antioxidant
that vitamin E.
